In January 2022, I decided I wanted to start my learning journey into the world of Wine, so I booked myself onto a one day course, run by the brilliant Manchester Wine School. I can’t recommend this Level 1 course enough, if like me you have an interest in wine, but want to formalise it a little. We tasted 6 different wines, discussed the production process, how to taste them properly and – the bit I found the trickiest – food pairing.

I’m pleased to say I passed the exam with 93% and I know exactly which questions I got wrong too! I’ve gained lots of good knowledge from the course, and feel more confident discussing and ordering wine now as a result. There’s a Level 2 course, which a few of my friends have done, which goes into wine in lots more depth. I’m tempted, but as it’s a 3 day course, I recognise this would be a lot harder than the Level 1.

Still, a few days tasting and chatting about wine can’t be too bad can it!
